Shelley? definitely one of the Romantics), comparing the annoyance of a pearl oyster (the indignation here) to the morbid secretion that becomes a precious pearl - in the case of your poem this multilayered creation, fusing everyday objects, art, ancient knowledge in a unified whole. Your poem also reminded of when I taught unseen poetry to A level students of English Literature: one could write volumes on this inspired piece.
